"With the White Sox starting lefties Friday and Saturday against the Yankees, catching prospect Gary Sanchez will be elevated from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and likely serve as the DH at least for those games with Alex Rodriguez still on the disabled list. Sanchez, 23, was deemed an untouchable at last year’s trade deadline and during the offseason. However, after all but being handed the job as Brian McCann’s backup before spring training, the right-handed hitter was beaten out by Austin Romine. Going into Thursday’s International League action, Sanchez was batting .280 (30-for-107) with five homers, 30 RBIs and a OPS of .872 in 26 games. Lefty reliever Tyler Olson, who was recalled from Triple-A on Thursday when outfielder Ben Gamel was sent out, is the likely candidate to go to make room for Sanchez.
