"Mason Cole's never played a competitive down at center. But he still found himself on the early watch list for the nation's top center. Cole, a Michigan junior, landed on the Rimington Trophy Spring Watch List on Tuesday. The Rimington Trophy is handed out annually to the country's top center. The 6-foot-5, 305-pound Cole is making the switch from left tackle to center this season. He became the first true freshman in Michigan history to open a season as a starter at left tackle in 2014. He's started every game of his career (25 starts) and finished the 2015 season as an honorable mention All-Big Ten selection. Cole is one of six Big Ten centers on the list -- joining Maryland's Brendan Moore, Nebraska's Dylan Utter, Illinois' Joe Spencer, Wisconsin's Michael Deiter and Iowa's Sean Welsch.
