Newsclip®: [Sports] Rockets eye Mike D’Antoni plan that crashed with Knicks | New York Post

"The Rockets coaching search reaches its next phase with one former Knicks coach stepping to the forefront and another stepping back. The Houston Chronicle reported on Wednesday that Mike D'Antoni has emerged as a front-runner for the Rockets job after impressing the team in his first interview. He will meet with Rockets owner Leslie Alexander to try to solidify his grip on the position. Jeff Van Gundy, who coached the Knicks and the Rockets, was interested in the job, but never interviewed and is now out of the running, according to The Vertical. Van Gundy will remain in his comfy position as part of the ESPN/ABC's top announcing team alongside Mark Jackson and Mike Breen. There are still hurdles between D'Antoni, who is currently an assistant with the 76ers, and another head-coaching opportunity. Two other candidates are considered finalists for the position, according to the Chronicle, with David Blatt, Jeff Hornacek and Frank Vogel among the group",
