"David Wright will avoid the disabled list for now, but concern over the Mets captain’s long-term health remains. Wright, who will miss his fourth straight game Tuesday with a herniated disk in his neck, received an injection before the game against the White Sox and will be re-evaluated on Thursday when the effects of the shot wears off after 48 hours. Terry Collins was hopeful that Wright could return to the lineup this weekend in Miami, but the Mets manager was also prepared for the possibility that the 33-year-old’s latest injury could be another ongoing issue. “Certainly I think it’s serious,” Collins said. “I’ve never had one, but I’ve been around guys who have. Bobby Parnell had one, certainly didn’t come back from it very good, but David’s a tough guy, plays through a lot of pain and we’ll wait to see how he is in a couple days. “Obviously a herniated disk can be a serious thing, they can come", nypost.com
"The sample size is small, and history indicates a regression to the mean, but so far Neil Walker has been a deadly right-handed hitter in his brief Mets tenure. That continued on Memorial Day, as the team’s second baseman belted his fifth home run from the right side and 12th long ball overall to break a scoreless tie in the seventh inning, accounting for all the offense in the Mets’ 1-0 victory over the White Sox. “It’s probably the most [home runs] I’ve had to this point in the year in my career,” Walker said. “I guess it’s uncharted territory for me, but more than that, I’m happy to be stringing together good at-bats. Days like today when I’m able to give the team a lead late in the game feels pretty good.” So far this year, albeit in far fewer at-bats, Walker has a higher batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and OPS from the right side compared to the left. Last year, he didn’t homer", nypost.com
"NEW YORK (AP) — Mets captain David Wright has a herniated disk in his neck and could be headed to the disabled list. [...] 33, Wright was on the disabled list from April 15 to Aug. 24 last year when he strained his right hamstring and then developed spinal stenosis. Wright plans to ask the specialist whether the neck injury is linked to his back problem.", www.chron.com
