The lease began today and continues through 2050. 'Today's contractual closing of the public-private partnership and the imminent commencement of construction represent a huge step forward in Governor Cuomo and the Port Authority's vision to modernize LaGuardia Airport,' said Port Authority Executive Director Pat Foye. 'The new Terminal B will be a 21st Century facility offering a high level of customer service and amenities. The LaGuardia Public-Private Partnership represents the second major", www.theautochannel.com
"NEW YORK - A $4 billion project to renovate New York's delapidated LaGuardia Airport finalized its financing on Wednesday, marking the start of a 34-year lease on one of the most complex public-private partnerships in the United States. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates the critical regional transportation hub, reached financial close on the deal with LaGuardia Gateway Partners (LGP), a consortium of Vantage Airport Group, Skanska and Meridiam.", www.todayonline.com
"Contractors will begin tearing down parts of the main La Guardia airport terminal next week in the first physical move toward the $4 billion rebuild. The plan is to tear down a few gates at a time until the whole main Terminal B is rebuilt. The first new gates should come back online in about two years, said Port Authority executive director Pat Foye. “The airport is going to continue to operate,” said Foye. “This is La Guardia. You can’t shut it down.” They will also rebuild the central hall that connects the terminals. “La Guardia has been unacceptable for a long time,” said Gov. Cuomo. “It’s certainly not of New York quality. We’re not replicating what was. This is virtually blank-slate, brand new.” The new airport will include a unified terminal that will be 600 feet closer to Grand Central Parkway, creating 240 percent more space for runways and flight operations, three times as many security gates,", nypost.com
