"Metro-North trains will be running at a sporadic, slow, and irregular schedule 'until further notice' while railroad crews work to fix damage to a Manhattan underpass, officials said this afternoon. The Park Avenue Viaduct was damaged on Tuesday night by a four-alarm fire underneath it. The fire erupted just after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at a garden nursery at East 119th Street and Park Avenue. It could be until sometime on Friday before the agency gets Metro-North trains back on a regular schedule, officials said. Service on the Metro-North lines was nightmarishly slow during the Wednesday morning commute as trains crawled toward Grand Central Terminal on two tracks instead of four. The MTA announced that trains would run on a Saturday schedule, but they mostly left early or late and then took hours to get to Manhattan.
