The 22-year-old Severino posted a 5-3 record and 2.89 ERA in 11 starts in 2015, and though he wasn’t near being a staff ace, the right-hander was being looked at to eventually be a third or fourth starter. Chad Green? He was one of two right-handers — along with Luis Cessa — acquired from the Tigers for 28-year-old lefty reliever Justin Wilson last December. Some voices inside the Tigers’ universe wondered why the Yankees would deal a healthy and effective Wilson. Voices inside the Yankees organization questioned the return. General manager Brian Cashman said Green and Cessa were acquired to provide starting depth at Triple-A", nypost.com
"CLEVELAND — Carlos Beltran’s balky right hamstring has turned Alex Rodriguez into a very expensive hood ornament. With Joe Girardi leery of playing Beltran in the outfield because of the lingering injury, Rodriguez has eight at-bats in the last seven games. Six of those at-bats were Tuesday against White Sox lefty Carlos Rodon and Rodriguez had one hit, a double. “When I hear my name, I'll be ready to go in there. I'm excited to go back in there,’’ Rodriguez said before the Yankees’ 5-4 win over the Indians Thursday night at Progressive Field. “I'm doing my running every day and simulating at-bats in the cage.’’ When Rodriguez, who makes $21 million this season, gets into the lineup is a question Girardi wasn’t ready to answer. The Indians have three right-handed starters lined up for the weekend, and Girardi didn’t give any indication Rodriguez would start against any of those", nypost.com
