    "CLEVELAND — Billy Burns was one of Oakland’s best stories last season, coming out of nowhere to win the center field and leadoff jobs and putting together a solid rookie season. Burns, however, had a tough time of it this year, and by the time he was demoted to Triple-A Nashville this month, he was batting .234 and Jake Smolinski had blazed past him on the A’s depth chart. On Saturday, Oakland traded Burns to Kansas City for another Triple-A outfielder, Brett Eibner. Burns, whose wide-eyed, naive disposition made him something of a team mascot as a rookie, also became a fan favorite during his time with Oakland.
