"Chase Utley made his return to Citi Field count. Playing at Citi Field for the first time since he became Public Enemy No. 1 during Game 2 of the NLDS, when his takeout slide of Ruben Tejada knocked the then-Mets shortstop out of the playoffs with a broken leg, Utley was booed lustily throughout the Mets’ 6-5 win over the Dodgers on Friday night. Asked about what he expected his reception to be, Utley said: “About what happened. You always want to contribute, no matter who you’re playing against or where you’re playing.” Despite the fans’ vitriol, Utley was able to crush a game-tying, three-run double with two outs in the top of the ninth off closer Jeurys Familia. “He left it middle-in and I was able stick it in the gap,” Utley said. “I like the fact we battled against one of the better closers.’’ Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez wasn’t surprised Utley rose to the occasion as the center of", nypost.com
"[...] as the Giants’ advance scouts and other club representatives watched Urias face the Mets, they had to wonder about the timing. After a late-season debut in relief with the Dodgers in 1980, Valenzuela returned to lead the National League in complete games and innings pitched in the strike-shortened ’81 season. Urias, who has never thrown more than 90 innings heading into this season, is ticketed for around 115 — with 41 already in the books from Triple-A ball. [...] Draymond Green got 39 all-NBA votes at center — and more overall votes than the first-team choice, DeAndre Jordan — but players’ votes only count at their predominant position. The number currently belongs to Paul Sorrento, the Angels’ assistant hitting coach, but Sorrento told reporters he’d give it up and go back to 44, the number he wore as a player in honor of Reggie Jackson ... "One swing from Curtis Granderson compensated for Jeurys Familia’s worst night in eons. Granderson hit a walkoff homer in the ninth inning against Pedro Baez that gave the Mets a wild 6-5 victory over the Dodgers before a sellout crowd of 43,462 at Citi Field on Friday. Familia had entered in a non-save situation in the top of the inning and allowed four runs — three of which came on Chase Utley’s double to tie the game — before Granderson unloaded in the ninth with his ninth homer. The Mets won for the sixth time in seven games and moved into a first-place tie with the Nationals in the NL East. In the ninth, Familia allowed four hits and a walk. The righty — who set a franchise record Wednesday with his 32nd straight regular-season save — wasn’t charged with a blown save because he entered in a non-save situation. Jacob deGrom rebounded from a sluggish start against the Brewers last Sunday to allow one run on three hits with", nypost.com
