"Bradley came up from Triple-A and struck out a career-high nine in 7 1/3 innings, leading the Diamondbacks over the San Diego Padres 6-3 back. Arizona scored five runs in the second inning for the second straight day, given an early lead to Bradley (2-0), who allowed three runs, four hits and a walk. Drew Pomeranz (4-5) gave up a season-high six runs, five hits and four walks in five innings with nine strikeouts. Brandon Drury, batting cleanup for the first time in his big league career, hit into an RBI forceout in the first, the first run Pomeranz allowed in a first inning this season. Padres manager Andy Green challenged the call, which was upheld in a video review, and Goldschmidt hit a two-run double for a 6-1 lead. San Diego placed Saturday night's starter, Cesar Vargas, on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow soreness.", www.sfchronicle.com
"From Yahoo Sports: Now the left-hander will try to continue one of the best starts to a season in franchise history Sunday when the visiting Padres look to bounce back and take two of three from the Arizona Diamondbacks. San Diego manager Andy Green took a chance on Pomeranz (4-4, 1.70 ERA) at the end of a shaky spring performance, naming him the fifth starter even though most believed he'd work out of the bullpen. The 2010 first-round draft pick has since made his skipper look like a genius, leading the Padres (20-30) in wins and strikeouts (60).", sports.yahoo.com
"Five Arizona pitchers combined to allow 18 hits, 23 baserunners and four home runs. Yangervis Solarte homered from both sides of the plate for the Padres, who snapped a four-game losing streak. The Padres took a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI single by Melvin Upton Jr. Solarte's towering, three-run homer -- batting left-handed -- off Josh Collmenter sparked a four-run fourth that gave San Diego a 10-0 lead. Diamondbacks: RHP Rubby De La Rosa (right elbow inflammation) and RHP Shelby Miller (sprained right index finger) were placed on the 15-day disabled list and Collmenter (right shoulder inflammation) was activated from the 15-day disabled list on Friday. Miller, who originally injured the finger April 16 in San Diego when he scraped his hand on the mound following through on a pitch, is 1-7 in 10 starts with 30 strikeouts and 29 walks in 45 2/3 innings and a 7.09 ERA. Miller had been scheduled to start Sunday's series finale before he was placed on the 15-day", www.sfchronicle.com
"From Yahoo Sports: Zack Greinke won't dig too deep to figure out exactly why he's throwing the ball better for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Looking to win a third straight start, Greinke tries to help the Diamondbacks avoid a fifth consecutive defeat Saturday night against the visiting San Diego Padres. Since giving up 11 runs in 10 innings of his first two starts, Greinke (5-3, 4.59 ERA) has yielded two or fewer in five of eight outings.", sports.yahoo.com
